Rhetorical Analysis

For my Argumentative Writing course, we took a lot of time to understand rhetorical analyses. Many of our assignments required us to be able to rhetorically analyze essays, websites, or articles. Below is an example of one such analysis I did. The purpose of this given essay was to show my professor I understood how to correctly analyze pieces she assigned us. I didn’t think rhetorical analyses would help me much when it came to social media advertising. Once I started my internship at Evok Advertising, I was proved wrong. Most of my assignments for various clients require research. I usually have to find the most credible sources which takes a keen analyzing eye.

I compared two essays, “Symbolic Gestures” by Jesse Smith and “Empire of Images in Our World of Bodies” by Susan Bordo. I started out by rhetorically analyzing each and then compared them based on each analysis.
